#LifeVerse 6: “The LORD said to Abram… ‘I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you. I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you (treats you lightly), I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you’” (Genesis 12:1-3).
The nations of the world who have blessed Abraham’s family have come under the blessing of the Lord, but when that nation turns its back on the Jewish people (Abraham’s descendants), the nation is soon in decline.
This was true of ancient Egypt, later of Spain, then Great Britain, and could be dangerously close to any nation today who does not honor God’s call on the family through whom all of us have received redemption.
“God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable,” Paul told the Romans in speaking of His continued call on the seed of Abraham through Isaac and Israel (See Romans 11: 29).
This does not diminish God’s call on any other nation, including the Arab nations, many of whom are destined to be a blessing upon the whole earth, according to Isaiah’s prophecy in chapter 19:19-25.
